As a senior Information controls fellow, Geoff is working with Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto to develop new methods and tools for investigating malware enabled espionage operations against targeted actors like journalists and civil society groups.
The project leverages the data resources of Citizen Lab to study malware campaigns and develop automated methods for analyzing, detecting, and tracking both the malware and the command and control infrastructure used to target these at risk communities. Geoff’s research can be found in two recent Citizen Lab reports: Safer Without: Korea’s Child Monitoring & Filtering Apps and INSIDER INFORMATION An intrusion campaign targeting Chinese language news sites.
