OONI Probe is free and open source software designed to measure internet censorship and other forms of network interference.
The Open Observatory of Network Interference, OONI, is an open source network testing framework and associated tests for detecting internet censorship. Least Authority conducted an audit of OONI. The audit was primarily focused on the ooni-backend software component, with some review of ooni-probe. The audit focused on standard functional and operational application security.
This audit explicitly excluded considerations of legal, professional, and ethical liability of data collected from OONI tests. Existing considerations of such risks are available in the OONI Threat Model, specifically the non-resource-risk documented threats.
