The Secure Chat-Mail project explores a new model for decentralized, offline-first, and interoperable communications for repressed, fragmented, or locked-down network environments.
This project will create secure chat-mail instance setups and bring instant onboarding to the cross-platform Delta Chat messenger.
While Delta Chat can already be used with a wide variety of existing email servers, secure chat-mail instances enable instant onboarding with pseudonymous accounts, offer ephemeral messaging with sub-second delivery speeds, and consist of standard components that are cheap to setup and maintain.
Secure Chat-Mail will improve Delta Chat apps with pervasive and user-tested protections against compromised networks or servers. In collaboration with trainers and teams in repressive and internet-shutdown affected regions, the Secure Chat-Mail project overall explores a new model for decentralized, offline-first and interoperable communications for repressed, fragmented, or locked-down network environments.
