This project expands the development of Onion Browser – the only open-source, privacy-enhancing, Tor-enabled browser for iOS.
This project delivered a web browsing experience on par with mainstream mobile browsers, while improving the reliability of Tor on iOS and maintaining the privacy and security features users expect in a “Tor Browser” app.
Many journalists and activists depend on their iPhones as lifelines and confidantes. With the funding this project provides, we are expanding our collaboration with the Tor core development team to improve the state of the Tor service on iOS devices. This will result in improvements to Tor core, and updates to the Tor.framework iOS developer library, which will benefit both Onion Browser and any other app that wishes to utilize it.
