The sustainability of internet freedom technologies relies heavily on civil society, freelancers, and small organizations. In large part because of their work in repressive contexts, these internet freedom champions often face organizational, financial, and legal challenges when starting their projects and beginning to receive funding. Fiscal hosts can help overcome some of these challenges. The objective of interalia is to conduct research to better understand if, how, and where fiscal hosts could strengthen the internet freedom ecosystem, and to establish a fiscal host, interalia (based in Germany but operating globally) as a response.
