Developing an open source library that offers tools for offline-network communication based on sending data through BlueTooth, WiFi, and ultrasonic-sound technology.
During times of large-scale civic engagement and issues of national significance, numerous autocratic regimes throughout Africa have limited their citizens’ ability to freely express themselves online, and at times have completely shut off the Internet. Ayanda stands to offer an open source solution that is localized for the types of low-end devices and low-resource environments that may be found throughout the global south and in Sub-saharan Africa in particular. Ayanda’s proposed ultrasonic-sound technology will simplify the process of pairing devices and lead to better cross-device compatibility. In addition, the project also intends to make the open source library more user-friendly for projects that require the use of offline communication solutions.
