Sanne Stevens is a researcher, trained facilitator and consultant with many years experience working with civil society organisations, funders and media organisations in the technology, digital safety and internet freedom field.
In her activities she tries to combine critical research with hands-on strategical interventions. Her current research focusses on the effect of datafication and automation on inequalities and social justice. Besides research and scoping-studies, she facilitates workshops and meetings and conducts practical workshops for activists, journalists and civil society worldwide about basic digital security practices, surveillance, data tracking and strategies against online harassment and hate speech. As a community coordinator, she stimulates inclusive knowledge sharing and collaboration. She has worked with the Digital Defenders Partnership (Hivos) and VPRO, and has consulted organisations including Prins Clausfund, IFEX, IFA and the Ada Lovelace Institute.
